Dating a younger girl in high school is not a new phenomenon by any means.
In fact, boys or men dating high school girls has been going on for as long as anyone can remember. It’s just that, possibly, there is increasing awareness of high school girls dating older men owing to the communications revolution whereby almost anything that happens anywhere is the word can be instantly transmitted via social media applications such as Line, What’s App or Instagram – to anywhere and anyone in the world!
Plus, with the advent of many high school girls willing to post their personal information, or even dating or relationship status, online via social media such as Facebook, it’s not surprising that dating a younger girl in high school is far more prevalent than previously.
Add in the propensity of, especially, the younger generation to constantly record their actions such as what they are eating, where they are going etc via “selfies” and post them on one or more of the popular social media sites, then it is reasonable to expect that younger girls in high school who are dating should be at the forefront on this type of craze.
If we look at some of the underlying issues or factor relating to younger girls in high school dating, many are not new; some can be summarised as follows:
- teens dating is nothing new and, in some countries, teens will begin to date at almost the first signs of puberty; dating a younger girl in high school where there is a more than average age differential is simply a sub-set of the overall dating phenomena
- sometimes, for men dating younger girls in high school the age difference might only be a couple or so years; if the younger girl is 14, 15 or 16, and the male maybe 17, 18 or 19, then he may have only recently left high school himself
- where the age difference is more significant and men older than mentioned above are dating younger girls in high school, society seems to have become more tolerant and accepting over recent years; one of the arguments being that, if the age difference is say 8 or 9 years, then a high school girl of, say 16, dating a 25 year old male is not that dissimilar socially to a 23 year old female dating, say, a 31 year old male—providing both parties are responsible and mature enough to cope to deal with the situation
- some younger girls still in high school genuinely prefer older men as they are often more mature, or more worldly, than the contemporaries of the younger girl still at school; the older man can “take care” of her betterOf course, there are no “hard and fast” rules about dating younger girls still in high school but this is one of the key issues that has been brought to the forefront of the modern generation given the instant accessibility that almost every person under the age of, say, 30 seems to have these days!
